Road Trips are Awesome. So is #sxswsf and RoadChallenge.com
Posted on 08. Mar, 2010 by Tammy Camp.
The day is finally upon us. Early this morning, me and my three new best friends piled into a Chevy Equinox, and embarked on a competition road trip to Austin, TX for the SXSW interactive conference.
This isn’t just about driving, though. We’ll be following clues from location to location, and taking on 50 fun “challenges” along the way. For example, we’ll be stopping by an animal shelter to walk the dogs, getting a group of people to sing a famous song, taking a picture with a police officer, and many more.
As we complete these challenges, we’ll be documenting them on the South Florida SXSW Chevy Road Challenge site at http://roadchallenge.com. The competition between teams (it’s us, South Florida, against 7 others) won’t be decided by who gets to Austin first, but rather, who completes the most challenges, and gets the most buzz created around their posts. Kind of like Amazing Race 2.0.

Let’s Get Naked: My Take on Transparency Online
Posted on 04. Mar, 2010 by Tammy Camp.
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind” – Dr. Seuss
Up until recently, the concept of transparency was little more than a buzzword for me. I wasn’t completely comfortable revealing certain things about my life online, and kept my personal life mostly private in favor of the professional.
However, starting this blog, being more active on social networks (like twitter and facebook), working on a posterous lifecasting site and receiving encouraging insight from English entrepreneur, Ben Way (@BenpbWay), I’ve slowly started to become more comfortable with online transparency.
It’s gotten to the point where I’m actually known for my transparency, and have become an advocate for getting naked… um, I mean, sharing about yourself online.

Visiting the Googleplex – Google Headquarters in Mountain View, CA
Posted on 08. Feb, 2010 by Tammy Camp.
I was in San Francisco last week. Making my rounds, I found myself at Google Global Headquarters in Mountain View, CA — known to “Googlers” as the Googleplex.
I must admit that being a tech geek, I was absolutely stoked to have an opportunity to tour the campus. I got to peek around at the different offices, eat lunch at the cafateria, and stroll though the Growing Connection Garden.
As I strolled through the gardens, I reminisced about opening my first Google Adwords account way back in 2002, long before Google went public. They’ve come a long way since then. *sniff-sniff*. It brought tears to eyes to see an infant grow into an adult. Wait, not even an adult…..hell, a giant!

5 Must-Have Free Social Apps for BlackBerry
Posted on 25. Jan, 2010 by Tammy Camp.
BlackBerry, the enterprise phone, is often dismissed as the “other” brand within social media communities. But worldwide, BlackBerrys still outnumber iPhones — approx. 36 million to 21 million — and RIM has made major strides in recent years to become more social-friendly.
I use my BlackBerry not only for business, but for most of my social media. I’ve found it to be downright kickass at both, made even better by a full keyboard, and great global coverage.
There are many social media-related apps available for BlackBerry, and it can be tough to pick only the good ones. To cut through the others, here are my top-5 social apps for BlackBerry:

Do You Wanna Poken Me?
Posted on 02. Oct, 2009 by Tammy Camp.
Before you read too much into the title of this post, let’s get one thing straight. No, I’m not propositioning you with a double entendre. So get your mind out of the gutter! What I am here to do is to tell you about a new piece of computer technology that is poised to become the next big social media craze. If you haven’t heard of a poken yet, you soon will (@WarrenCorpus popped my Poken cherry). That’s because this thumb-size device is on the verge of taking the uber-popular social media world by storm.
What’s all the fuss about?
Well, first off, it eliminates the printing of business cards, personal cards or scraps of paper with your contact information on it. Just give someone a “high four” with their poken and your contact information including social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Myspace, etc.) are synced. No more printing and data entry of contact information again! Also, one can’t overlook the cuteness factor. Currently available in panda, alien, bee, ninja, pig, voodoo and fire varieties, pokens are just so darn cute that they’re almost irresistible. But rest assured, they’re not the 21st century’s Furbie. Oh no, these cutie pies actually serve a genuine and useful purpose.
